Liebster Blog Award

I received this rather nice award from the lovely Suzanne at SkyBlueSea for my blog. I was extremely chuffed and am now to pass it on to 5 blogs I find inspiring. The idea behind the award is to spread a little loving into quiet corners of the blogging world and hopefully introduce readers to new and amazing blogs.

My mission, which I have accepted is:
1) Create a post on my blog and add the Liebster blog image.
2) Link back to the person who gave me the award and say if I accept.
3) Choose 3-5 of my favourite blogs, link to these in my post and tell these lucky bloggers that they've been tagged.

So in no particular order...

1. Tabitha Emma
An amazingly beautiful blog full of inspiring photography and illustration. I always head here if I need a bit of a creative pick me up or to find new artists. Love it!

2. The Spotted Fox
Worth a look for the navigation buttons alone! A creative melting pot highlighting all things crafty, thought-provoking and aesthetically pleasing. Run by Sara and Kelly, quite simply this blog makes me smile and sigh when I look at it. Go look!

3. Scribbleblock
A multi-talented lady with a blog full of her AWESOME drawings, oh and she's my best bud and business partner too. I'm not biased though, she is seriously talented. Check her out!

4. Tiny Red
A beautiful blog of illustration by awesome illustrator Thereza Rowe and other things she finds inspiring. I love the colours Thereza uses in her work and it follows through in to the blog. Gorgeous!

5. Georgia Coote
A lovely lady posting a pattern a day. Georgia's work is always original and encourages discussion on her blog, you get a real sense of community from visiting and commenting. A real wealth of work, very inspiring!

I could of picked loads more but those are the blogs I'm always looking at, feel free to check them out and pick a few of your own!

1930's Fashion Illustration

These beautiful illustrations were shown to me by a family friend who was related to the lady in the photo, she bought round this big portfolio bursting with these gorgeous fashion drawings and it really was like finding some lost treasures! The lady in the photo above is Ethel and she was about 18/19 in this photo. She did these illustrations at art school in the early thirties and I think they have such a lovely quality about them that as well as being really beautifully illustrated and conceptualised say a lot about the time they were drawn too. Lovely!

Lovely Louis

The latest Louis Vuitton window in Manchester, is it wrong to love the window illustrations more than the bags?! It reminded me of a window we did at Firecatcher a while ago for our shop at the time...

Tea party window!

Rob Ryan at YSP

Bex and I went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park recently to see the Rob Ryan exhibition. It was amazingly beautiful like all of his work and really well done. The tall glass windows of the visitor's center were decorated with large scale vinyl cutouts of Rob's work entitled "You can still do a lot with a small brain".

Check out these cool picture of Rob Ryan in his studio by Jonty Wilde Photography.
